2015 Tennessee Search for Excellence
Applications and instructions for the 2015 Search for Excellence Awards are posted on the homepage of the Tennessee Master Gardener website .
There are so many valuable, impactful projects in the Tennessee Extension Master Gardener program, and each year we have the opportunity to recognize several of these projects through the Search for Excellence awards. SFE awards are given in the areas of Youth, Demonstration Garden, Workshop or Presentation, Community Service, Innovative Project, Research and Special Needs Audience.
This year, in addition to the traditional SFE awards for outreach projects, there is also an individual award category for Outstanding Master Gardener. This provides the opportunity to recognize Extension Master Gardener volunteers who exemplify the collaborative spirit and passion that enables MGs to carry out the Extension mission. New this year is an Outstanding Contributing Partner award to recognize those who are not TEMG volunteers, but who contribute valuable service to the program.
Along with the applications and instructions, you will see the score sheets and the instructions to the judges. Past applicants have told us how useful it was to read through all of these documents prior to beginning to write up the application. Knowing what the judges are looking for in each category is a major head start! We’ve also posted “How to Write An Impact Statement,” which we feel will give guidance in this very important section of the application.
This year’s deadline is November 1, 2015. We strongly encourage you to submit your application a few days prior to the deadline.
