I would like to draw your attention to a GIS course that is being offered next semester. Geography 414: Spatial Databases and Data Management.  This course will cover how to acquire, organize, and manage spatial data, including working with enterprise level database systems in a multiuser environment.  These are very valuable skills to have when applying for jobs or when working in a team environment.  A recent graduate of our department remarked that this was one of the most useful courses she took at UT and if she could she would take it again.

The course is offered from 9:05 to 9:55 on MWF next semester.

Oh, if you wonder what GIS skills are worth, you might want to check out the following link:  http://www.forbes.com/profile/jack-dangermond/?list=forbes-400
