Dear Campus Communicators:

Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21 and 22, Tennessee’s student veteran group VOLFighters is partnering with the UT Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the UT Police Department to hold a Green Zone training session. Green Zone is a common term in the military for a designated safe place.

Monday’s training will consist of presentations on the adjustments that veterans go through to get acquainted with civilian life, campus resources that are available for veterans, and the ways that veterans and all Vols can become better citizens of our campus, community and country.

Tuesday will feature a panel discussion with a wide variety of veterans at the Humanities Amphitheater, a service dog presentation by the UT Police Department and the Smoky Mountain Service Dogs group, and a screening of the film “Max,” which tells the story of a US Marine’s service dog that is sent to the Marine’s younger brother when the service member is killed in action.
