J.Y. Joyner Library, East Carolina University (ECU) seeks a
forward-thinking, flexible, enthusiastic, user-focused individual to fill
the faculty position of Digital Archivist within the Special Collections
Division. The individual in this position works with university departments
to ensure the successful transfer and long-term preservation of
born-digital university records. The person in this position also
facilitates the digitization of holdings within the Special Collections
Division.



Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Director for Special
Collections, the Digital Archivist provides key support to the University
Archives and Records Program. The successful candidate will: 1. Develop a
sustainable born digital e-records management system; 2. Develop procedures
for ensuring the long-term preservation of digital materials found in
manuscript collections; 3. Participate in the division's ongoing
implementation of archival content management systems; 4. Work with the
Digital Collections Librarian to ensure the online accessibility of finding
aids; and 5. Work with staff throughout the division to select materials
for digitization. The Digital Archivist serves on the Digital Collections
Team and the Digital Collections Advisory Board; consults with metadata
providers; and participates in the Special Collections Division's public
service activities, including instruction, reference, and social media
services. Some weekend and evening work is required. F  inalists will be
asked to make a presentation during the on-campus interview.



Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in library or information science
(or international equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program or a master's
degree in public history, archival studies, history, or a closely related
field; working knowledge of EAD and XML; knowledge of the principles of
archival management; experience with digitization projects; familiarity
with archival content management systems, such as Archivists' Toolkit or
ArchivesSpace; knowledge of issues related to the capture and preservation
of electronic records; knowledge of digital preservation standards; ability
to coordinate projects effectively, including organization, prioritization,
and goal-setting; commitment to providing superior user-centered services;
excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and ability
to work collaboratively with staff and users.



All degrees must be conferred by an accredited institution by the hire date.



Preferred Education and Experience: Knowledge of North Carolina history or
field related to the holdings of the Special Collections Division;
experience in providing public service in a library or archival setting;
experience with archival or manuscript processing; knowledge of relational
databases; knowledge of metadata schemas, such as Dublin Core, METS, MODS,
PREMIS, and TEI; familiarity with cataloging standards, in particular DACS
and MARC; digitization project management experience; certification by the
Academy of Certified Archivists.

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries seek applications and
nominations for the position of Coal and Coke Heritage Center Archivist.
Under the direction of the Eberly Family Special Collections Library at
University Park, the person appointed to this two year, fixed term faculty
position will arrange, describe, manage, and make accessible the
collections held by the Coal and Coke Heritage Center on the Eberly Campus
in Lemont Furnace, PA.

Started in 1977 as the Patchwork Voices project by Penn State Fayette
faculty, the Coal and Coke Heritage Center has been involved with the
ongoing preservation, research, teaching, and community outreach activities
focuses on the coal/coke industries of southwestern Pennsylvania. In
addition to creating over 1,000 oral history interviews, the CCHC has
collected over 128 linear feet of archival records and more than 1,500
maps, photographs, and drawings.

*Responsibilities:*

   - Provides reference service, instruction, and outreach to faculty,
   students, the community, and other researchers for CCHC collections.
   - Works in cooperation with Fayette Campus Library staff, and the UP
   Special Collections Library to develop an ongoing collections management
   plan for the Center.
   - Accessions, arranges, describes, and creates finding aids for all CCHC
   archival and manuscript collections in compliance with local and national
   processing standards as set by the UP Special Collections Library staff.
   - Works with the Special Collections Library staff to establish
   priorities and deadlines for processing projects.
   - Performs regular reporting of metrics for processing projects.
   - Supervises part-time staff, volunteers, and interns at the CCHC
   - Completes other special projects as assigned/directed.
   - Participates in local, regional, or national professional
   organizations; enrich professional expertise by attending conferences and
   continuing education opportunities.

*Required:*

   - MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent), or a Masters
   in Information Science, Archival Science, or related field.
   - Experience providing research services for archival collections.
   - Experience with arrangement and description of archival and manuscript
   collections.
   - Working knowledge of archival and descriptive standards, including
   DACS, EAD, MARC, LCSH, and Dublin Core.
   - Knowledge of basic preservation standards for archival and manuscript
   collections.
   - Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
   - Excellent technical skills, including experience with Microsoft
   Office, cataloging systems, and EAD authoring tools.
   - Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively,

The Hesburgh Libraries at the University of Notre Dame are seeking a
creative, forward-thinking, user-oriented and collaborative professional
for the position of Director, Resource Acquisitions and Discovery Program.
The successful candidate must be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the
changing nature of librarianship, the formats of library collections, and
particularly the role of cataloging and metadata in extending discovery
services.



*Responsibilities:*



The Program Director leads, shapes, and transforms the vision and practices
of integrating collection description and discovery as well as the
provision of materials acquired and licensed in all formats by the
Libraries.  The successful candidate will lead the program to re-envision
traditional technical services workflows and functions to enable the
program to move forward in a complex environment of evolving collections,
systems, and technologies. S/he will direct the operations of the RAD
program, including acquisitions and licensing of all formats of
collections, interlibrary loan, cataloging and metadata services (total of
39 members), as well as co-direct the operations of a newly formed
systems/discovery unit with the Program Director of Information Technology
(total of 6 members).



With program stakeholders, s/he will be responsible for technical
innovations, with an eye toward increasing efficiencies by defining best
practices and standards, building sustainable workflows to handle
increasingly heterogeneous assets, bringing high-quality content to users,
and enhancing the user discovery experience by establishing policies and
procedures and adopting new technologies.  S/he will work closely with
colleagues to allocate program resources in response to project needs,
manage financial resources responsibly and provide input related to
allocation of the collections budget as it impacts the RAD program.



The Program Director, Resource Acquisitions and Discovery will serve on the
Library Cabinet senior leadership team and other library groups as
appropriate.  The Program Director reports to the Associate University
Librarian for the Digital Access, Resources and Information Technology
division.  Responsibilities include:

and priorities for the program in coordination with unit heads and
