Get Engaged through Office of the Dean of Students Initiatives

Vol Talks and Walks, the Orange Plate Special, and Lunch Hours are just a few of the programs you can participate in through the Office of the Dean of Students. A special “Sweet Treat” edition of Vol Talks and Walks will take place from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday on the Pedestrian Walkway. Stop by to meet Dean of Students Melissa Shivers and share your concerns, suggestions, and accomplishments.

Direct Deposit of Excess Financial Aid

If you have financial aid that is more than the cost to attend the university, you will receive excess financial aid funds through direct deposit into your bank account. Direct deposits are scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, and should show up in your bank account within two to four business days. Those who do not have direct deposit will be sent a paper check.

Get Involved with the Central Program Council

Help plan and execute cultural, educational, and social programming that draws thousands of people from campus and the community each year as a member of the Central Program Council. From politics to ballet, films to fine art, there’s something for everyone. Applications are due September 10.

Late and Final Registration Payments Due Friday

If you have added a course that has increased your tuition and fees, you must pay your balance by 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 28. Check your MyUTK account to see if you have any outstanding payments due. Those who do not pay by the due date will be signed up for the deferred payment plan. Enrollment in the deferred payment plan involves an additional fee.

UT Forms Recovery Group

UT has formed a recovery community, Rocky Top Recovery Group, for students, faculty, and staff in recovery, those thinking about recovery, or those who are allies of those in recovery. The first meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow at the Wesley House.

Drop Reminder for First- and Full-Session Courses

Today is the last day that you can add, change grading options, or drop a class without a W for first-session courses. Friday, August 28, is the last day that you can register or add, change grading options, or drop a class without a W for full-session courses. More information on UT’s drop policy can be found on the One Stop website.

Serve Communities During Fall Break

Apply to participate in one of seven Alternative Fall Break trips. You’ll join a diverse group of students and perform service- learning projects focusing on a unique social theme during fall break. Applications are due August 31.

Undergraduate Research Hosts Discovery Day

See what your fellow Vols are researching both on and off campus and learn about research opportunities available for you during Discovery Day from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow in front of the Hodges Library Commons.

Head to UT Farmers’ Market

Stock up on fresh produce and local foods for your residence hall room or apartment. The market runs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday until October 21 at the UT Gardens on UT’s agricultural campus.
