Vol Update is UT’s official
student e-newsletter that highlights events, reminders, internships, resources,
scholarships, and other important campus news. You will receive it every Monday and
Thursday during fall and spring semesters. This summer, check your e-mail once every
two weeks for special New Vols editions of Vol Update. Our goal is to give
you information to prepare you for your first semester.

Now that you’ve confirmed your
enrollment, it’s time to sign up for orientation. You’ll meet new friends and
student leaders, discover campus resources, have your first meeting with your academic
advisor, and register for classes. You should also encourage your parents or other family
members to attend orientation with you. If you haven’t signed up for orientation
yet, register here. If you
have already signed up, you should receive information in the mail soon with details
about your orientation session.

There are several things you need to do
before orientation. Log in to your MyUTK account for
details on these, as well as additional items you need to take care of before starting
classes in the fall. You will need your NetID and password to log in to MyUTK. If you have
trouble logging in, contact the OIT HelpDesk for assistance at 865-974-9900.

Ignite is an exciting program that helps you
learn about opportunities to get involved on campus and about life outside the classroom.
You’ll also meet other new students and develop your leadership skills. You can
choose between three Ignite programs—Summit, a fun-filled three-day retreat; Serves, a
four-day service program; or Outdoors, a five-day outdoor leadership program. Learn more about each
program and register.

reminders
The state of Tennessee has established
immunization requirements for students attending state colleges and universities. As a
new student, you must submit documents to the Student Health Center to prove you have
the required immunizations. You should submit these forms prior to your scheduled
orientation session or bring them with you to orientation. Details about
immunization requirements can be found here.
