Good Morning Third International Symposium on Ranaviruses Attendees and GRC Listserv,

We are getting excited about the conference that is coming up in just under a month, and we hope you are too!  We want to make sure that you have your travel and hotel squared away, but just in case you do not, the last day to get the group rate with the Hilton for this conference is FRIDAY MAY 8th!  Please visit this website to get your special conference hotel room: http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aeh/ranavirus/site.html

We also hope you encourage your friends to register for the conference!  We have extended the regular registration price for the meeting.  If you know someone who has not registered and wants to join us for a great time please visit our website: http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aeh/ranavirus/registration.html

We are excited to let you know that we are offering veterinarians CE (continuing education) credits for this conference.  If you are interested in getting CE credits for attending this conference please contact Dr. Larkin ([log in to unmask]) with your name and state license number to get on our list so we get your CE form in your conference bag!

We would like to let everyone know ahead of time that for you to get access to all of the conference events (lunch, socials, reception at the museum, etc.) you will need to have your name badge on you so please make sure you keep it safe.  The hotel staff and volunteers may ask to see it to enter event areas!

If you are presenting at the conference please be on the lookout for an email with instructions and directions that will be coming your way in the next few days!  Attached to this email is the agenda for the conference (it is also available online).  In an effort to make this conference eco-friendly   where we can we will not have printed proceedings but will have the proceedings available on the website by Friday May 15th for you to browse and copy.  Thumb drives will also be available at the registration desk for attendees to use to transfer the proceedings to their computers.

During the conference all of the volunteers, who can help you with information will be wearing Teal blue polo’s that say Aquatic Animal Health on the front pocket.  Please feel free to talk to them if you have any questions.

Lastly, we would like to remind you all that we are offering a number of field trips and workshops on June 1st!  They are all going to be a lot of fun in different ways!  You can go on a NATURE WALK in Payne’s Prairie followed by a small history lesson, food and shopping in Micanopy.  Or, if you would like to see the springs that are a beautiful part of natural Florida you can participate in the Homosassa Springs State Park field trip!  If you want to learn how to design a Ranavirus surveillance study you should participate in the Design of Ranavirus Surveillance Studies and Data Analysis workshop!  But, what if you love hands on learning? Then you should participate in the Sterile Sample Collection from Ranavirus Hosts and Molecular Diagnostics workshop, which will show you how to properly take sterile samples as well as, process them and store them!  We hope that you partake in one of these amazing opportunities to help make your conference experience one to remember! Please visit the website for more information on the different opportunities available for you to enjoy on June 1st:  http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/aeh/ranavirus/ft_nfo.html

Thank you,

Thomas Waltzek, Amanda Duffus, Patrick Thompson
