Moving Image Digitization and Metadata Specialist

Job Description:
This is a project-based position scheduled to last 22 months at 40 hours per week with health insurance and benefits.  Country Music Foundation is an equal opportunity employer. Start date June 2015.

Role Summary:

  • Work with CMF staff and project consultants to create a workflow for one inch open reel video digitization, batch processing of files, file storage, and metadata management.
  • Operate Sony BVU-950 playback deck and Mac pro.
  • Operate Blackmagic Analog to Digital software.
  • Perform quality checks and control of newly-created files.
  • Perform and advise on basic cleaning, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of Sony BVU-950 playback deck.
  • Upload metadata into DAM system.
  • Assist in creation of reports as required by granting agency and employer.
  • Perform duties with professionalism, which includes relating to others in group settings and individually in a courteous, cooperative, sensitive, and collegial manner.
  • Reports to Director of Digital & Library Collections

Key Qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum experience in digital preservation of legacy video formats for archival purposes (preferred).
  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; and Cataloging experience.
  • Experience with CONTENTdm or similar digital asset management system preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of country music and American vernacular music is preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to work efficiently with tight deadlines.
  • Applicant should be detail oriented and patient. 
  • The ability to multi-task will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Sound judgment to identify and report problems to supervisors and contribute to resolving them.
