A Look Back at March

We’ve made it to the last month of classes! It’s time to take a look back at some of our favorite moments of March. Last month, some students enjoyed much-deserved rest during spring break while others served various communities through Alternative Spring Break trips. Many students also spent their free time outdoors enjoying the warm weather.

Cumberland Avenue Redesign Work Underway

The City of Knoxville’s Cumberland Avenue Project began this morning with utility work. Lane closures run from West Volunteer Boulevard to Twenty-First Street. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Learn more about the construction and project timeline. You can also follow updates on the city’s Cumberland Connect website.

Congratulations to This Year’s Torchbearers

Chancellor Cheek and Dean of Students Melissa Shivers surprised nine seniors to notify them that they had been selected as Torchbearers. Congratulations to Rilwan Balogun, Matthew Barnett, Cierra Burdick, Connor Dugosh, Kelsey Keny, Valerie King, Kenna Rewcastle, Julia Ross, and Christopher Smith for being awarded the highest honor that a student can receive at the university.

Sex Week UT, hosted by Sexual Empowerment and Awareness at Tennessee, will offer thirty-five events this week that aim to create safe spaces to have honest and open conversations about sex, sexuality, relationships, gender, and sexual orientation. Use Your Voice to Advocate for Higher Ed

Join the discussion of how you can use your voice to advocate for higher education during SGA’s I Will Be Heard event. The discussion begins at noon this Friday in the Toyota Auditorium of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy.

Get engaged with the Baker Center as an ambassador to help promote civic engagement, public policy, and public service, and to plan educational and social events. Applications are due by this Friday.
