This statewide initiative, led by the Tennessee Environmental Council in partnership with the Cumberland River Compact, the Tennessee Stormwater Association, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture -- Division of Forestry, and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, along with numerous partner NGOs, will happen on Saturday, March 14th, with a goal of planting 50,000 trees in one hour in all 95 Tennessee counties. All trees (bare root seedlings) are provided at no cost. This event is a great opportunity for Master Gardener organizations to plan a tree give away or planting event in their communities on March 14th, or members to volunteer to participate in an already planned event in their community. Extension Offices and staff are also encouraged to participate. While all 50K Tree Day planting events will take place on March 14th, seedlings giveaways can take place prior to the 14th with the seedlings being planted by individuals on the 14th.
