Student to Watch: Humans of UTK Founder Caroline Knight

“There isn’t one person you wouldn’t love if only you knew their story,” says Caroline Knight, a sophomore majoring in Cinema Studies and founder of the Humans of UTK Facebook page. Much like the Humans of New York phenomenon, Knight’s chronicles portray the people of UT—whether they’re a student, faculty or staff member, bus driver, or construction worker. She takes a photograph and asks a question, which sometimes can lead to an emotional response.

SGA Hosts Live Debate and Elections This Week

Hear from the SGA candidates during the Volunteer Channel’s live debate at 8:00 p.m. tonight in the McClung Museum. Decide who will lead the student body by casting your vote online from 8:00 a.m. tomorrow until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. You can also vote from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Pedestrian Walkway both days.
Vol Tip: If you can’t make it to the McClung Museum, you can still view a live stream of the debate on the Volunteer Channel’s website.

Want to Be a Student Honorary Coach?

The Office of the Dean of Students, in collaboration with UT Athletics, will recognize several of our university’s biggest Volunteer fans during this fall’s home football game weeks. One student will be chosen each week as Student Honorary Coach and will get the chance to attend meetings and practice before the game, meet Coach Jones, join the team for pregame activities, and watch from the sidelines during game day. You can apply for this opportunity until April 25.

Student Art in the Library: Vote for Your Favorite

Cast a vote for your favorite work of art. The Student Art in the Library juried exhibition is now on display in the Miles Reading Room, on the first floor of Hodges Library. The People’s Choice Award will be determined by your vote on the UT Libraries Facebook page.

Summer Financial Aid and Scholarships

All students who want to use financial aid to take summer classes or study abroad must submit a completed summer 2015 financial aid request form with One Stop to notify the university that you will be enrolled and would like to request funding for the summer. The priority deadline is Wednesday, April 1. Eligibility for summer financial aid is determined by aid received in the fall 2014 and spring 2015 semesters.
