Show Your Campus Green Pride During Big Green Friday

Putting a green twist on the university tradition of Big Orange Friday, join the SGA Traditions Committee and the Office of Sustainability for UT’s first-ever Big Green Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. tomorrow on the Pedestrian Walkway with giveaways, games, free food, and music. The event will celebrate our sustainability achievements and showcase our campus’s green pride. Everyone is encouraged to wear green as a way to celebrate the earth and support UT’s efforts to Make Orange Green.

Student Memorial Service Next Monday

The campus community is invited to a special memorial service to honor the students, faculty, and staff we have lost in the past academic year. The service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, in the Humanities Amphitheater. The new tradition provides the opportunity to join family and friends to memorialize members of our Volunteer family who have passed away.

Register for Next Week’s Hike the Hill in Heels

Join the hike to raise awareness about sexual assault. Everyone is encouraged to put on a pair of heels and hike from the Torchbearer to Ayres Hall at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. The event is open to anyone who wants to participate—individually or as part of a team. You can also show your support by donating on behalf of a participant.

Lunch Hours Launched This Week

The Office of the Dean of Students launched its new initiative, Lunch Hours, this week as an opportunity for you to invite a faculty or staff member to lunch at no charge. Students can make plans to invite a faculty or staff member on certain Tuesdays and Fridays at either Presidential Court Cafe, Southern Kitchen, or the University Center. Learn about the initiative and see updated information about ways you can participate.

Congratulations to the staff of UT’s Daily Beacon. The newspaper has been recognized in an article on USA Today‘s college website that highlights its recently published special issue on sexual violence. Social Media Week will highlight the power of social media with sessions and panel discussions from Monday, March 30, through Thursday, April 2. The week is sponsored by the College of Communication and Information and events are open to everyone.

Based on the success of its 2014 pilot program that offered online summer courses to help students stay on track, the College of Arts and Sciences will expand its online summer offerings to a total of twenty-one courses this summer.
