Mercer University seeks an enthusiastic, creative, collegial, and
service-oriented Cataloger and Government Information Librarian who will
provide oversight of all University Libraries metadata initiatives for
Mercer University Libraries as well as oversee Tarver Library’s selective
Federal Depository Library program. As a member of the University Libraries
Technical Services & Systems Department, the Cataloger and Government
Information Librarian interacts with library colleagues across the
University.   

    Responsibilities: The successful candidate will provide metadata
services for the University Libraries (Tarver Library/Macon, Swilley
Library/Atlanta, and multiple Regional Academic Center locations) and manage
Tarver Library’s selective Federal Depository Library program. The primary
duties include:
    --      Maintains awareness of cataloging developments, including
AACR2/RDA, LCSH, MARC and other metadata schemas to ensure that we are in
accordance with current best practices.
    --       Collaborates with the University Library community to ensure
proper metadata in the applicable systems. Plan and conduct necessary
database maintenance tasks to ensure the systems are accurate.
    --      Provides leadership to cataloging personnel, responsible for
original and copy cataloging.
    --      Effectively manages the selective Federal Depository Library
program at Tarver. Manages the collection in cooperation with our regional
depository coordinator.
    --       Provides limited reference and instruction services.
