Five Things to Do Now That Football Season Is Over

Football season is over, and many of you are probably counting down the days until Team 119’s season opener game or even the Orange and White game this spring. If you have wondered… What’s there for me to do on the weekends now? Don’t worry, there’s plenty to do on Rocky Top! Here’s a list of five things to get you started.

UT Earns Prestigious Carnegie-Engaged Designation

UT and the UT Institute of Agriculture have earned the 2015 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification for collaborating with community partners to address society’s most pressing needs. UT joins a group of fifty-two universities with the “very high intensity” research classification and the engaged status designation. Learn more about this achievement here.

Apply for a White House Internship

Want to develop your leadership skills and learn about working in the public service sector? Apply for the White House Internship program. The deadline to apply is January 11 for the summer program and April 19 for the fall program. Students who apply are also encouraged to apply by January 29 for UT’s Congressional Internship program. The Congressional Internship scholarship could be used to off-set any costs incurred through the White House Internship program for those students selected for both.

Give Back During Your Spring Break

Looking for a way to give back and travel with your fellow Volunteers? Apply to be part of an Alternative Spring Break trip. This year’s trips are set for March 15 to 21. This program, hosted by the Center for Leadership and Service, takes diverse groups of students to different communities to perform service-learning projects.

New Process for Student Accommodation Requests

The Office of Disability Services has launched a new process for students to request accommodations for their classes. Utilizing the Student Portal, you are now able to request accommodations based on an approved list and receive your letter automatically. Visit the ODS website for additional details and an online tutorial.

Interested in Going to Law School?

Attend the College of Law’s Winter Open House to learn more about UT’s law program. The open house will include a panel of current law students with a Q&A session and opportunies to meet a faculty member and admissions, financial aid, and career advisors. Learn About Greek Life During Expo

Meet members of all organizations within the four councils of Sorority and Fraternity Life during the Greek Life Expo. Chat with current members and learn about spring recruitment possibilities from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, in the UC Ballroom.
