How does the university spend the money
collected from the mandatory fees you pay? Today we look at the technology fee, including
an infographic that explains how the fee provides the resources you use around campus.

Hodges Library will open its doors at 10:00
a.m. on Sundays beginning February 1 on a trial basis. The public services desk,
equipment checkout, and OIT lab services desk will open at 10:00 a.m. Food and
beverage vendors also will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The W. K. McClure Scholarship program
awards up to $5,000 to support study, research, or creative projects abroad that focus on
issues or problems associated with world affairs. The deadline to apply is March 10. More
information and eligibility requirements can be found here.

Do you live in or near Jackson or Memphis?
Catch a ride home for spring break through the UT to West Tennessee program. This
program provides students with low-cost round-trip transportation home during the
Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks. More details and registration can be found here.

Interested in working in government on
Capitol Hill? The Congressional Internship program gives students in every major the
opportunity to intern with Tennessee’s legislators in Washington, DC. Selected students
will also receive a scholarship to offset costs of living in Washington, DC, during the
internship. Applications for
summer and fall internships are due January 29.

The UT Student Nurses Association will host
its annual career fair from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, in the UT Visitors
Center Ballroom. Graduate nursing schools and hospitals from Tennessee and surrounding
states will be there to answer your questions and provide advice about nursing careers.
Any students with an interest in nursing are invited to attend, and no pre-registration is
required.

Learn to manage your money at the
Financial Literacy Boot Camp from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, in Hodges
Library Room 211. Attend the full day of workshops or drop in on individual sessions.
You’ll get an introduction to Career Services, budgeting, and wealth accumulation,
along with a free pizza lunch. A full schedule of events can be found here.
