HAPPY NEW YEAR to all counselors,

This is a reminder of the Call for Proposals for the 9th SMCA One-day Conference. The conference will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Carson-Newman University.

SMCA President Melissa Scoble announced the conference theme this year is Homegrown Healing. The keynote speaker will be Sam Venable from the Knoxville News-Sentinel. His topic will be "Mental Health: Masking with Humor."

We had asked for all proposals to be submitted by next Friday, Jan. 9. This deadline is very important to us as we wish to have the program set so we can begin promoting this exciting professional event. We thank many of you have already submitted your proposals, and it's not too late for others. Attached is the Call for Proposal form.

We are especially in need of programs on ethics, supervision, and evidence-based counseling in mental health and in school counseling. If you have counseling ideas to deliver effective service to students and clients, please consider sharing them with your area colleagues. Your ideas are important; so take a few moment to complete the attached form. The deadline to submit a proposal is Friday, January 9, 2015, but don’t wait. Submit your ideas now!

If you are unable to meet the Jan 9 deadline or have other questions, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration and support. We look forward to reading your ideas soon.
Mike
