The Library is seeking two Supervising Librarians on the Selection team -
one focused on Children’s collections and one focused on the Young Adult
collections.  Reporting to a BookOps Selection Team Lead, the Supervising
Librarian:

   -

   Works within a centralized collection development unit to identify and
   select youth materials in a variety of formats for the BookOps member
   libraries
   -

   Monitors the allocated budgets for the specific collection areas
   assigned to select to ensure responsible expenditure of the yearly
   materials budget for that area
   -

   Partners with the BookOps Collection Management team and member library
   Collection Liaisons on developing policies and guidelines aligned with the
   member libraries’ overall collections strategies
   -

   Collaborates with branch librarians and site managers to identify
   current and emerging collection needs of local populations, including
   multicultural groups and immigrant communities
   -

   Works with staff throughout the member libraries to promote the
   collections to the libraries’ user communities
   -

   Partners with BookOps Acquisitions in such areas as managing approval
   plans and vendor relations
   -

   Works with staff in relevant member library departments to identify
   materials that support the education and programming needs of the assigned
   selection area

Desired Skills and Experience

   -

   ALA-accredited Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies
   -

   2 years relevant library work experience
   -

   Knowledge of current practices and trends in the management and
   development in youth collections
   -

   Knowledge and appreciation of children’s and teen literature,
   audiovisual materials, computer resources, and other materials that
   constitute a balanced, relevant youth collection
   -

   Successfully demonstrated experience training and supervising staff
   - Budget management experience
   -

   Strong computer and other related technology skills, including web-based
   vendor interfaces, MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google applications, PCs,
   Macs and e-reader devices
   - Demonstrated knowledge of computer services including online
   searching, social media and reference resources and databases

Desired Skills and Experience

*This Person Will:*

• Lead the client's engagement strategies and initiatives to a global
community of academic and scientific librarians
• Manage existing initiatives, advisory panels, library summits and campus
portals
• Develop leading initiatives to support publications brands
• Research, cultivate and bring valuable client feedback into the
management/decision-making process
• Be actively involved in front line interactions with key market
constituents in the development and execution of new products and
innovations
• Routinely attend key industry conferences and conventions
• Be involved in training and developing the client's sales team as needed
• Manage outreach and engagement programs on a global level
• Gather industry feedback regarding, product offerings, policy decisions,
marketing materials and initiatives to share with business decision-makers
• Actively participate in all librarian directed communications (including
web portals, blogs and social sites)
• Work closely with clients US and international Campus Programs and Sales
Teams as needed
• Oversee society websites to ensure the content and topics are updated and
relevant
• Develop sales focused training and educational programs to enhance the
sales teams engagement and empathy toward end-users to improve their
overall experience and outcomes
• Be point person for sales and marketing teams when addressing questions
and issues relating to business policies and initiatives
• Develop overall position statements and assist with collateral and
support materials for conventions/conferences and sales teams

*Requirements:*

• A Masters of Library Science degree is highly preferred for this role
• A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required
• A minimum of 7 years experience in Academic, scientific or corporate
library markets is required
• Experience supporting/focusing/researching the end user experience is
ideal
• Experience with public speaking, and the ability to craft and deliver
messages to groups of 50+
• Very computer savvy with a solid understanding of MS Office products and
related computer tools and applications
• Knowledge of and experience using Social Media to craft messages and grow
awareness
• Professional writing and communication skills
