Description

*Job Overview*

The Acquisitions and Systems Librarian coordinates and provides access to
timely scholarly research literature for IDRC staff and funded recipients
in the most practical and cost-effective manner possible.  S/he performs
document delivery, organizes, administers and implements the acquisition of
all articles, serials and books, and organizes and maintains the Library’s
serials subscriptions.

The Acquisitions and Systems Librarian also serves as subject matter expert
to provide advice on and serve as system administrator of various IDRC
library systems.  S/he coordinates systems setup, configuration, updates,
and troubleshooting with application vendor and technical support staff.

*Candidate Profile*

*Education*

   - Master’s degree in library/information sciences

*Experience*

   - Minimum of two (2) years of advanced online and Internet searching
   - Experience with document delivery, systems administration,
   acquisitions and cataloguing

*Language*

   - Bilingual position (English / French) at the intermediate level

*Knowledge*

   - Knowledge of Federal acts and legislation concerning copyright and how
   it applies to document delivery

*Competencies*

   - Familiarity with automated library systems
   - Ability to set priorities and organize work
   - Ability to work with deadlines
   - Initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment and flexibility
   - Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
   - Aptitude for detailed work
   - Excellent interpersonal skills
   - Superior communication and presentation skills
   - Excellent database and internet search skills
