Part Time Library Specialist: Public Services The UTC LIbrary seeks energetic, friendly, tech savvy and service-oriented candidates to fill several part time service desk positions throughout the Library. Preferred candidates will be familiar with library services, online research, productivity software, and both PC and Mac platforms. Prior experience troubleshooting printers, copiers, scanners, mobile devices and wireless connectivity is also preferred. These positions are part time, approximately 8 to 20 hours per week, and will include a mix of shifts at one or more of the Library’s main service points, depending on availability and individual skill sets. Most hours are nights and weekends, with the exception of a Monday daytime shift. Primary Job Responsibilities: Provides customer service at one or more of the Library’s 3 main service points. Check Out Desk: The Library’s main check-out desk. Staff at this desk assist users with check in and check out of library materials, equipment, course reserves and group study rooms. Mon (7:30-12:30) and Sat (1:00-5:00) Information Commons Desk: The Library’s main research and technology support hub. Staff at this desk assist users in finding resources, citing information, using software and online courseware, formatting and printing documents, scanning, connecting to wireless and more. Sun (1:30-6:30, 6:30-12:30), Mon – Thurs (7:30-12:30) Studio: The Library’s newest service point, the Studio is the space for all things creative. Staff in this location assist users with high-end hardware and specialized software for multimedia design and production. Sun (2:00-9:00), Mon (12:30-8:30) and Sat (1:45- 5:15) · Required Skills / Qualifications: High school diploma. Strong customer service focus and a friendly, helpful demeanor. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Collaborative work approach. Well-rounded tech skills. Demonstrated familiarity with the internet, browsers, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, PC and Mac operating systems, mobile devices, printers, copiers, scanners and library research resources. Problem solving skills, particularly with respect to technology Flexibility and adaptability in dealing with the demands of a busy public service desk.
