Members of the campus and the Knoxville community are cordially invited to participate in “ A Conversation
with E. O. Wilson” in Alumni Memorial Building, Room 32, 9:30-10:30 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2014. The event is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
Edward O. Wilson is
an American biologist, researcher, theorist, naturalist and author. He is
considered the world’s leading authority on ants and the founder of sociobiology.
A summary of Wilson’s numerous accomplishments and honors is attached.
Wilson, who studied at UT for a short time in the 1950s, will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science and Letters degree in ecology and evolutionary biology. The ceremony will
be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, in Thompson-Boling Arena.
