UT launched its new crowdfunding website
VOLstarter today. It offers a way for students and departments to raise money for
projects that can change lives. From providing funds for students to attend leadership
training to supporting a group that improves the homes of needy families, VOLstarter
links donors with opportunities to support specific projects and initiatives. Check out all
twenty projects currently featured on the website here.

welcomed Bryan Hilbert to last month as the new coordinator for UT’s Disability
Careers Office. In his new position, Bryan assists students and alumni with disabilities

Each year UT’s Alumni Association
presents four professors with Outstanding Teacher Awards to recognize teaching
excellence in the classroom. The selected professors will receive a reward and be
recognized at the annual Chancellor’s Honors Banquet. Nominate
your favorite faculty member by December 1.

Residence halls will close at 5:00 p.m.
Friday, December 12. You must check out of your residence hall before you leave for the
break and you can check out as early as the last day of your final exams. Graduating in
December? You must check out no later than 5:00 p.m. Saturday December 13. Halls will
reopen at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4. Laurel, Volunteer, and Apartment Residence Halls
will remain open during the break for students who have made prior arrangements.

Join your fellow UT students for the St. Jude
Give Thanks Walk at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22 at the Knoxville Zoo. St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital provides cancer treatment to every patient at no
charge. The event is free and all-day admission to the zoo is awarded to those who come

Human Sciences Graduate Student Advisory Board will host a discussion at 4:00 p.m.
tomorrow in the Black Cultural Center to help undergraduate students learn more about
applying, transitioning, and succeeding in graduate school. The event will focus on
education, health, and human science graduate programs.
