Becker College is searching for an interdisciplinary individual who can think broadly and lead the growth of its new data science program.  The successful applicant will be a recognized collaborator on campus working with faculty in academic areas, such as, biology (bioinformatics), business (big data analytics), criminal justice (policing analytics), interactive media (gaming analytics), and other areas to realize the potential of data science applications in various disciplines.



Responsibilities include:

  *   Creative and collaborative approach

  *   Effective teacher and mentor



The Director may also collaborate with the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGI) a partnership between government, higher education, and interactive media industry housed at Becker College, as well as other local institutions of higher education.  Applicants should be able to teach classes in the program’s core, such as data mining, data visualization, machine learning, and “big data” tools like Hadoop.  This is a significant opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to build an exciting data science program as a new flagship area for Becker College.



Desired Skills and Experience

The position will carry faculty rank at the full, associate, or assistant level, based on experience.

A minimum master’s degree in Computer Science or related field is desired, a Ph.D. would be an asset.

A doctorate in Computer Science or related field desired. An ABD will be considered.
