Homecoming Filled with “Tennessee Traditions”

Homecoming is a great time for you and your friends to celebrate the traditions that make our university special. There are plenty of opportunities to participate in activities including the Homecoming parade, pep rally, bonfire, and a cookout. Click here for a full list of events which lead up to the game against the UT Chattanooga Mocs at 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

UT Names College of Business for James A. Haslam II

For the first time in its history, UT has named a college in recognition of an alumnus and donor. The Haslam family, of Knoxville, announced on Friday a landmark gift of $50 million to our business college. The gift was made in honor of the family’s patriarch, James A. Haslam II. The UT Board of Trustees then voted to name the college the James A. Haslam II College of Business. The college will no longer use “Administration” as part of its name.

Big Orange Online Campaign Give Kicks Off Today

UT’s second annual Big Orange Give kicks off today. The five-day online fundraising campaign features special video messages from famous alumni including American roots rock band the Dirty Guv’nahs and former UT football players Eric Berry and Dustin Colquitt. Watch the videos here as they are posted throughout the week.

Legally Blind Student Plays Helen Keller in UT’s The Miracle Worker

Clarence Brown Theatre’s production of the The Miracle Worker stars an actress who is drawing from her own life experiences to play the lead character. Rachel Finney, a UT senior who is legally blind, portrays Helen Keller. Hear more of Rachel’s story here. Tickets are $5 for students who opted-in and $15 for students who did not opt-in. Find performance dates, times, and ticket purchasing options here.

OUTreach Center Hosts National Coming Out Week Events

This week is National Coming Out Week and UT’s OUTreach Center invites LGBTQIAA students and allies to celebrate with them at various events throughout the week. The week will include panel discussions, documentaries, lectures, and even a tailgate. A full schedule of events can be found here.

Congrats to Vaidehi Patel, This Week’s Student Honorary Coach

Vaidehi will attend the Vols football practice on Thursday then join the team on the sidelines for this weekend’s game against the UT Chattanooga Mocs. Vaidehi is a junior in microbiology from Lexington, Tennessee. She has served as an orientation leader, a welcome leader, and a Multicultural Greek Council Executive Committee member and has been involved with Sigma Sigma Rho sorority, UNITE, and the Indian American Association.

October is here and that means it’s time for the tenth annual POWER Challenge. Residence halls will compete to show their commitment to reducing the university’s environmental impact, with each hall being awarded points for a variety of actions. Financial Literacy Boot Camp

Learn to manage your money at the Financial Literacy Boot Camp on Friday, October 10. Attend the full day of workshops or drop in on individual sessions. Topics will include banking and saving, the importance of your credit score, and managing finances, to name a few. Sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Lindsay Young Auditorium of Hodges Library. View the full schedule here.
