Dear Club Geographers:

Dr. Lydia Pulsipher has identified a possible GIS project opportunity that could be developed into a nice piece of community engagement-an increasingly important dimension of the Academy and UT's vision. See her attached document, which describes the way GIS could be used to manage the logistics of the ever widening geography of the Sunflower Project. Dr. Tran graciously looked over the proposal and sees great promise for an interested student or group of students. The Sunflower Project has received a number of grants from the city and from private foundations. The amounts are small but they are getting bigger as the project expands. Dr. Pulsipher feels that a scholar(s) who would work with the project would have a good chance of attracting money with the help of the project staff.

Feel free to approach Dr. Tran and Dr. Pulsipher ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) with questions and/or suggestions.

Best wishes,
Derek
