Please allow me to follow up on Kurt’s email below that encourages you to participate in the 2014 Eastern Regional TNGIC (Tennessee Geographic Information Council) Meeting. 

 

I am still rather new to the state and the Department, but I have consistently heard great things about TNGIC and their meetings.  The meeting presents an opportunity for presentation to a supportive crowd, career development and training, and networking (a topic we are discussing in Geography 504 this year

 

I realize that our time is limited, but this is a good investment if there ever was one.

Good Morning UTK Geographers -

 This is a gentle reminder that the 2014 Eastern Regional TNGIC (Tennessee Geographic Information Council) Meeting will be held on the Ag Campus October 16^th and 17^th.  As the planning committee chair, I strongly encourage participation by UTK geography faculty and students.  We are currently recruiting presentations, map gallery submissions and attendees and we need your participation.

The conference on Thursday, October 16^th is free though you must register to attend.  It includes a keynote, breakfast and lunch, vendors, presentations and a panel session on Careers in GIS.  This is a great opportunity to present your GIS-related work in a low-key environment, network with potential employers and beef up your CV.  There are two, half-day training sessions on Friday that should be of interest.
