UT Engineering Among Top-Ranked by U.S. News and World Report
UT’s College of Engineering has taken a large leap forward and is now ranked thirty-second among all public universities and fifty-seventh among all undergraduate programs, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2015 rankings released recently.

Pre-College Summer Engineering Diversity Programs
This past summer, 185 pre-college students came to campus and participated in one of the six summer pre-college engineering diversity programs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Engineering. Participants learned engineering fundamentals, explored engineering departments, completed engineering design projects, and experienced college life while on campus.

Engineering Students Help ORNL, Local Motors Print Drivable 3D Car
The only "car" that most people associate with printers is a "car-tridge" of ink, but may soon change, thanks in part to several UT students. UT, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Local Motors, Cincinnati Incorporated, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities teamed up to print a working, drivable car recently at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago.
MABE Receives $37 Million In-kind Grant from Siemens PLM Software
UT has received an in-kind software grant from Siemens PLM Software estimated at $37 million for use in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering (MABE). The grant gives students access to the same technology used by automotive manufacturers, aerospace developers and high-tech electronics companies. The software will be used by the EcoCAR3 program, led by research associate professor David "Butch" Irick, who serves as faculty adviser for the team.
College of Engineering Names First Woman to Endowed Professorship
UT is continuing its recent growth and making a little history in the process, courtesy of a recent endowment announcement by Ralph and Connie Gonzalez. Professor Hairong Qi, at right, has been named to the Gonzalez Family Endowed Professorship in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, making her the first woman to hold an endowed professorship in the College of Engineering.
