There are two new restaurant options for students
looking to grab a bite to eat between classes or at the end of the day: Raising Canes and
Panda Express. The two newest dining locations are open 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven
days a week and accept dining dollars and dinner meal equivalency as well as cash. Both
restaurants and the new VolShop are located on the corner of Cumberland Avenue and
Seventeenth Street.

Spring registration starts October 13. Schedule an
academic advising appointment soon since they will fill up quickly. You’re required
to meet with an advisor if you have fewer than 30 UT credit hours, are following an
exploratory track, are identified as being off track by uTrack, or are on academic
probation. You will be notified on your MyUTK account by September 22 if you are required
to attend an advising appointment this semester. All other students are required to meet
with an advisor during one designated term each year. Familiarize yourself with the policies
regarding academic advising.

You can gain the tools needed to become the next
National Geographic Young Explorer on Saturday, September 20, during a workshop for the
Young Explorers Grants Program. The program supports students pursuing field projects in
research, exploration, and conservation. Receive grant-writing tips and discuss your
proposal ideas with National Geographic Society staff. A schedule of events and registration
information can be found here.

Taylor Hathorn discovered a passion for promoting
military veterans through her involvement with UT’s Medal of Honor Project. Now that
passion has turned into a job for the 2014 journalism graduate. Learn more about

Vol Tip: Remember to attend the Medal of Honor Town Hall
Forum at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow in Alumni Memorial Building’s Cox Auditorium
to hear from Medal of Honor recipients Clinton Romesha and Donald Ballard. Get there early
as seats will fill up fast.

Vol Court, a five-week entrepreneurial speaker series
hosted by the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, kicks off on September
23. The series culminates with a pitch competition where you can incorporate what
you’ve learned into practice and present your business idea to a panel of successful
entrepreneurs for a chance to win $1,000 and professional services. Learn more about the

Follow music legend Hank William’s rise from
his humble beginnings at the Louisiana Hayride to his triumph at the Grand Ole Opry to his
untimely death at the age of 29 in the Clarence Brown Theatre’s production of
Hank Williams: Lost Highway. With more than twenty of his famous hits
throughout the play, you’ll be singing all the way home. Tickets are $5 for students
who opted-in and $15 for students who did not opt-in. Find performance dates, times, and

Although his days of being Bowling Green State
University’s school mascot are over, Adam Kowalski is excited to be cheering on the
Vols and being an advocate for all UT students as an assistant director of Sorority and
Fraternity Life. Adam oversees eighteen fraternities within UT’s Interfraternity
