Electronic Resources Librarian

King University, a private, comprehensive university founded in the Presbyterian tradition, is inviting applications for an Electronic Resources Librarian to join our engaged, user-centered, and forward-thinking library faculty.  Position is full-time with faculty status and is based at King’s Bristol campus in the beautiful foothills of Northeast Tennessee.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.

This position will have the following duties:

•             Provide leadership, coordination and administration of the library’s electronic resources:  negotiation, acquisition, licensing, renewal and management of databases, e-journals, e-books, and aggregator packages

•             Analyze usage statistics and provide cost analysis to support electronic collection analysis and development decisions

•             Troubleshoot access problems

•             Manage EZProxy in conjunction with the IT department

•             Maintain the Library’s web site and create effective workflows for managing website updates using a content management system

•             Serve as primary liaison to IT department

•             Serve as primary liaison to the Holston Associated Libraries consortium including serving as Sierra system manager for King

•             Maintain knowledge base for electronic collections management

•             Oversee workflow of 2 technical services staff members in the area of acquisitions, serials and cataloging

•             Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments for collection development

•             Participate in identification and review of assessment outcomes within library operations for access and collections

•             Participate in reference desk rotation

•             Provide secondary support for library instruction

•             Serve on faculty committees

 

The successful candidate is expected to:

•             have systems management experience such as EZProxy, link resolver, and content management systems

•             be familiar with current practices, theory, and issues related to assessment, data analysis, and electronic resource access

•             have knowledge of a wide range of print and electronic information resources

•             have demonstrated teaching experience

•             have a willingness to form strategic partnerships with campus departments

•             have the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team-based environment

•             have the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a busy, time-sensitive environment

•             become engaged in the King University community

 

Candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, be self-motivated, organized with attention to detail, inquisitive, eager to gain new skills and expertise, adaptable, and capable of working collaboratively.  The ability to learn new technologies with ease, enjoy solving puzzles and resolving discrepancies, not be afraid to ask questions, and view mistakes as learning opportunities is desired. 

 

Qualifications: ALA-accredited master's degree in library and/or information science is required and three years of relevant professional experience preferred. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Some travel will be required.
