The Center for Information and Communication Studies currently has an opening for a student assistant at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Research Library beginning in August. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain experience in all aspects of special library operations. This student will support several functions in both the technical services department (e.g., shelving books, journals, and reports, circulation tasks and document delivery and interlibrary loan) and reference services (e.g., staffing the service desk and assisting reference librarians with projects). The ORNL Research Library is currently involved in cataloging a large collection of e-books, so the student can expect to work on this project.

Preference will be given to a current SIS Masters student (U.S. citizen) who is at least 6 months away from graduation. Hours (15-20 hours per week) can be arranged around the student's class schedule, but must be during the day, Monday through Friday.

If you are interested, please email Bobbie Suttles ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), 420 Communications Building, 974-7909. Send a resume and indicate any current or upcoming on-campus positions. Students can only work 20 hours per week in positions paid by the University. Applications will be reviewed beginning August 18.
