Bilingual Spanish Regional Librarian

Salary: $25.02 to $30.79 per hour, plus 4% language premium pay

Multnomah County Library is seeking applicants for a full-time Bilingual Spanish Regional Librarian. The position is based at the Gresham Regional Library. You will serve four of the surrounding library branches in East Multnomah County, which will involve weekly travel to the different branches.

You will work with the Collections Manager, Library Selectors and branch staff to assess and maintain each branches adult collection, particularly the Spanish collection in each neighborhood library location. You will create, compile and contribute to booklists, bibliographies, pathfinders, training guides and Web resources for adults in both Spanish and English in all different formats including digital. You will work with supervisors at the library branches to assess staff training needs and develop training and mentoring plans for each location.  You will train, mentor and orient all reference staff in current resources, including library electronic resources. You will provide instruction to staff around digital content, electronic content (e-content), and electronic books (e-books). Trainings will be conducted in groups and one-on-one with staff.  In conjunction with the Bilingual Spanish Regional Technology Coordinator, you will develop and deliver e-content training to the public, including the Latino community.

LAC Group is looking for a team of Cataloguers for a project which will take place in Dublin, Ireland from early August 2014 until early Feb 2015 (approx. 26 weeks).  The team assigned to the project must be experienced librarians and archivists who have a proven track record of cataloguing to international standards [MARC21; AACR2; ISAD (G); LCNA; LCSH; Dublin Core].

A good knowledge of 20th century Irish history is essential for all team members. At least one of the project team will also be proficient in Irish.

The project will focus on collections of personal and political papers and the team will create item level metadata, sort items into an appropriate order, ensure consistent numbering and re-house items where necessary.

All team members should have experience of cataloguing a diverse range of material and a proven track record in delivering accurate and timely records, and ensuring that authority records are correct and that the records meet international standards. The cataloguers should have an excellent working knowledge of cataloguing standards and practice and should be familiar with cataloguing software systems, ideally including the Virtual library management system (LMS).

Position Description:
The Visual Resources Center Curator oversees the Department of Art Visual Resources Center (VRC), its equipment, and staff. The position works in the department and across the College of Arts and Sciences and the University at large with faculty engaged in developing digital humanities initiatives.  The VRC Curator administers new media resources, trains and supervises employees, provides training for faculty in use of digital media, and works with faculty on curriculum development with new media. The VRC Curator is also responsible for specifying and acquiring technical equipment.
 
Educational Requirements:

Essential Functions: The Digitization Projects Assistant, under the supervision of the University Library Archivist, provides assistance with Special Collections and Archives digitization initiatives, ensures the completeness and accuracy of digitized materials, and strives to ensure online access to Special Collections and archival materials. The incumbent will: perform project and quality control; physically prepare and post original archival materials; enter data and maintain project spreadsheets and other documentation; assist with developing procedures and specifications for collecting, preserving, and prioritizing production to develop high levels of digitization productivity; participate in processing archival materials in all formats (including surveying, apprising, acquiring accessioning, arranging, preserving, and describing records); and may assist researchers in the Special Collections Reading room. 

Required Qualifications & Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Two years of full-time experience working in a Library that has provided: a solid foundation in overall library policies, practices and procedures, exercise good judgment and take initiative. Experience working with archives or special collections; knowledge and application of professional and archival standards and best practices; familiarity with accepted conservation and preservation methods applied to archival and manuscript collections; and sensitivity to the proper care and handling of special collections. Must possess: working knowledge of computers, word processing, database and spreadsheet programs; excellent organizational skills; and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Must be accurate and have attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines consistently; a commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace; and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.
