Title:  Program Manager
Program:  Metronet Information Literacy Initiative (MILI)

The Metronet Information Literacy Initiative (MILI) is teacher/media specialist training that focuses on the 5 steps of the research process and incorporating the Three Rs—Research, Reliable Resources, and Responsible Use—into classroom instruction. Web 2.0 tools and apps for personal devices are included in the instruction in context and where using these tools enhances student learning and teaching.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the monthly training sessions offered to MILI teachers and media specialists. This includes content development and delivery and the coordination of logistics of the meetings and interacting with participants between meetings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Determine topics and create lesson plans for monthly training session

·         Create concise, easy-to-follow handouts and other materials that support training session

·         Lead training sessions – lecture, discussion, webinars, hands-on

·         Learn tools which may be used for instruction or personal productivity

·         Maintain wiki and Ning site, guide discussion threads, monitor participant blogs

·         Communicate with participants via emails, website postings and other means

·         Track participants’ attendance, blog postings, rubric requirements, etc.

Skills/experience required

·         ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent degree or media certification

·         Experience training adult learners

·         Understanding of information literacy and the research process in the context of education today

·         Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

·         Ability to break down complicated concepts into manageable portions

·         Ability to use online collaboration tools and common Web 2.0 tools

·         Understanding of the use of apps in education for tablets and smartphones

·         Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

·         Self-starter, self-motivated; able to work independently

·         Must have own transportation to reach suburban school districts

·         Some evenings/weekends required

Skills/experience preferred

·         Background in education / understanding of educational concepts, vocabulary, etc.

·         Ability to be both detail-oriented and big-picture thinker

·         Experience with webinars/online learning tools

·         Experience with personal devices (iTouch, iPad, tablets)


Hours:  40 hours per week

Salary:  Commensurate with experience.
