Assessment Librarian (Assistant Professor)

Job Description:
The Library at Shippensburg University invites applications for a
tenure-track faculty librarian, starting in August 2014, who will serve as
the Collection Development and Assessment Librarian. This position has
three major areas of responsibility: to provide reference and library
instructional support to university students, faculty, and staff; to
provide leadership for faculty collection development activities,
including, among others, library liaison activities, assessment of library
collections, and the evaluation of gift materials; and to provide
leadership for the assessment programs and activities of the library,
 including, among others, coordination of assessment activities in
collaboration with others in every area of the library strategic plan,
development of evaluation methodologies for library programs and services,
and the compilation of data in various regular and periodic reports and
surveys. Based on her/his skill set and the needs of the library, the
incumbent will serve on library committees and taskforces and will be
assigned additional library responsibilities.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a master's degree in library science from an A.L.A.
accredited program, and additionally, either a second master's degree in a
subject area or a doctoral degree is required. Candidates must have
excellent customer service orientation and skills, knowledge and expertise
with relevant reference databases and resources, and a high level of
comfort and proficiency with technology. Candidates will also have
experience in collection development, knowledge and expertise with
assessment of library services, and academic library experience. As part of
a successful on-campus interview process, selected candidates will be
expected to provide a demonstration of teaching effectiveness and evidence
of understanding diverse populations.

Salary and Benefits:
This nine month position has a competitive salary with excellent benefits
package including full tuition waiver at Shippensburg and other
universities in the State System.
