Research and Instruction Librarian (Temporary)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Western Carolina University’s Hunter Library seeks a knowledgeable, responsive, and service-oriented librarian to join our Research & Instruction Services Department for a part-time, fixed-term position (through
June 30, 2014). Duties include providing high-quality face-to-face and virtual reference services on Thursday nights, 5-9 p.m. and Sundays, 2-9 p.m. Additional shifts may be assigned - up to 30 hours per week - depending on the successful candidate’s availability.
The librarian will perform other duties as assigned, which may include developing research guides or tutorials and assisting in collection development projects.
Minimum Training & Experience:
· A Masters of Library Science from an ALA-accredited program of library or information science
· Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment
· Up-to-date knowledge of a wide range of information tools and sources and a creative, persistent approach to finding
authoritative information
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing reference services in an academic or public library environment.
