Radford University offers a highly diverse curriculum for over 8,350 undergraduate and 1,020 graduate students.  Located in the city of Radford, VA (pop. 16,500), 36 miles southwest of Roanoke in the New River Valley (pop. 178,539) in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Radford is approximately 3-1/2 hours from Richmond, VA; less than 2 hours from Winston-Salem, NC; and 4-1/2 hours from Washington, D.C.

Radford University invites applications for the position of Web and Interactive Media Designer. Reporting to the Director of Web Strategy and Interactive Media, the Web Designer is responsible for visual design in support of the university's Web strategy. Duties will include, but are not limited to: designing websites, landing pages, buttons, icons and other elements to enhance the Radford University website; following brand and accessibility guidelines when creating designs; creating interactive elements, including animations, components and other engaging elements for the Radford.edu website; designing banner ads and other graphics in support of Radford University's online marketing endeavors, including graphics to be used on social media sites; producing animations in support of the Radford University online marketing strategy; producing designs for mobile applications, including splash screens and icons; working closely with the Director of Web Strategy and Interactive M!
 edia, coordinate high-quality freelance photography in support of the website and other multimedia needs;other visual marketing and communications duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:  The successful candidate must possess prior web design experience, excellent visual design ability, and a strong understanding of layout and typography, including web typography; a thorough understanding of Web standards, including an understanding of designing for accessibility and user experience; experience working within brand guidelines; experience testing sites for cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility; advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat); experience optimizing design concepts using up-to-date online marketing techniques and best practices; an ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with writers, editors and multimedia producers, and work in crossfunctional teams; and strong team orientation, effective interpersonal skills, superior written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:  - Experience with responsive design; experience using a content management system; experience working in higher education; Javascript experience; experience with animation; experience with illustration; experience with email marketing; and experience with JQuer.

Education/Experience: An advanced degree in graphic design, graphic arts, web design or a related field, or education, training and experience that equates to an advanced degree. Prior professional web design experience required.

Compensation:  Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
