The next Eugene P. Wigner Distinguished Lecture Series is set for Feb. 12, 10:00 a.m.  The speaker is Dr. Steven Chu, former US Secretary of Energy and winner of 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics.  The topic of the lecture is "The Energy and Climate Challenge: Necessity as the Mother of Invention".

Dr. Chu is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Physics and Professor of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University, with research focuses in biophysics, biomedicine, energy, and energy economics.  He served as the 12th U.S. Secretary of Energy and earned the Nobel Prize for contributions to the development of methods to laser cool and trap atoms.

This lecture will be streamed in a live webcast to the Howard H. Baker, Jr. Center, Toyota Auditorium.
