Featured student: Stan Hunter

Stan HunterOur student this week is Stan Hunter, a mechanical engineering major who accepted a co-op at BSH Home Appliances, located in Jacksboro, Tennessee.

Hunter describes the department he worked in and what his main responsibilities were.

"I worked in the Design Engineering Department, more specifically, in the design lab,"he said. "My responsibilities included assisting the lab technicians with testing our products, helping design test equipment for the lab, working on the assembly line when prototypes were being built, maintaining and updating the lab equipment and software, and even just sweeping up the lab when it got messy."

Hunter felt he benefited from talking to the engineers and managers at BSH during his co-op assignment.

"I learned about preparedness and professionalism," he said. "This was a very valuable co-op experience."

Students may read more about their peers' co-op experiences by logging into their Engineering Professional Practice profile via www.coop.utk.edu, clicking "Resource Library" (on the left margin) and selecting "Students at Work–In Their Own Words."
