Featured student: David Proffitt

David ProffittOur student this week is David Proffitt, a mechanical engineering major who accepted a co-op at Malibu Boats of Tennessee located in Loudon, Tennessee. He described the department he worked in and what his main responsibilities were.

"I worked in the process engineering department on multiple assignments focused on improving efficiency and solving problems," said Proffitt. "I worked closely with people on the line as well as supervisors to gather data, and then used the results to solve manufacturing problems."

Proffitt enjoyed the variety of challenges during his co-op assignment.

"The experience working side by side with people of all different levels in the company to solve problems was probably my most valuable benefit," he said.

Students may read more about their peers' co-op experiences by logging into their Engineering Professional Practice profile via www.coop.utk.edu, clicking "Resource Library" (on the left margin) and selecting "Students at Work–In Their Own Words."
