Kennedy Library at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California, seeks an energetic, creative, collaborative, user-focused professional to join us in a new tenure-track faculty position as *Foundational Experiences Librarian. *We are looking for someone with a passion for teaching who is willing to experiment with and deliver creative and effective instruction, both in the classroom and online; and who can create outreach programming that focuses on diverse student and prospective student audiences. Core responsibilities for this position include leading, participating in, and assessing the library's instructional services for General Education courses, developing and coordinating the production and integration of literacies programming in online environments, developing and implementing an outreach strategy addressing the needs of new students, specifically first year students, prospective students, transfer students, and international students; and leading and coordinating the library's "whole student" program. The successful candidate will be an effective teacher who uses creative pedagogical strategies, and who is adept at building relationships across the disciplines and with a variety of stakeholders. Candidates will demonstrate strategic and tactical capability in creating and implementing outreach programs through events and virtual and written communications. Collaboration skills, organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate well across diverse audiences are essential. The successful candidate will have a record of being a highly collaborative self starter. *Requirements:* - MLS from an ALA accredited program or comparable academic library experience with relevant advanced degree - Demonstrated experience in classroom instruction, pedagogy, and teaching with technology - Experience in coordinating service or instructional programs - Familiarity with issues and trends in information literacy (or other literacies) instruction, outreach, and working with faculty and students - Excellent English oral and written communication skills - Ability to articulate a genuine enthusiasm for working with students and this position - Minimum of three years of relevant library experience At California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, we believe that cultivating an environment that embraces and promotes diversity is fundamental to the success of our students, our employees and our community.
