Strong Hall Renovation and Expansion Begins

Work began earlier this month on turning the vacant Strong Hall into a large and modern science class and laboratory facility. The two-year project marks the first big step in addressing UT's need for general class and laboratory space. 


WBIR Olympics Opening Ceremony Torch Relay

Want to be a part of an Olympic torch bearer relay in celebration of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics? UT students can join the celebration on February 6. The 14-mile relay winds through Knoxville with the final runner carrying the torch to the WBIR studios. Sign up to participate here.

There are several things to keep in mind as the semester gets underway. One Stop has compiled a list to help make sure everything goes smoothly this spring.


Meet Students from Around the World in Friendship Program

The Friendship Program pairs you with a same-gender international student to build a friendship. The program hopes to make students feel at home in a country other than their own. The program requires only a one-hour commitment each week. Apply by January 24.

Camp Boggy Creek Counselor Summer Internship

Spend a summer in Florida enriching the lives of children who have chronic and life-threatening illnesses by creating camping experiences that are empowering and fun. Previous camping experience or medical knowledge are not necessary. E-mail for more information.


National Football League Summer Internship Program

The NFL's summer internship program provides participants a rare glimpse into the league's playbook of business strategies. Interns will explore all aspects of the business through speaker presentations, mentoring relationships, and networking opportunities. Apply online at Hire-A-VOL.

Join the League of Women Voters Citizens Academy

The League of Women Voters strives to increase government participation and influence public policy through education and advocacy. The league will host a Citizens Academy focusing on running for local and state elections, hosting local officials and candidates lending their knowledge of the campaign process. 


Get Involved with the Central Program Council

The Central Program Council is a great way to get involved on campus. Whether you are interested in music, entertainment, issues, feminism, art, culture, or UT traditions, there is a committee to interest most any student. Applications due by 5:00 p.m. January 28.
