New Student Union Is Taking Shape

Construction on the new Student Union is progressing well and on schedule. The six-story structure has been formed from steel, and workers are pouring the concrete floors. A new pedestrian bridge connecting to the Hill will open by this fall.

UT Police Department Investigating Auto Thefts on Campus

UT Police Department is investigating several recent motor vehicle thefts that have occurred on campus. They appear to be related, and all involve early- to mid-2000s models of GMC Sierras and Chevrolet Silverados.

Staged Reading with Visiting Playwright John Lazarus

Join a staged reading of Sex with Feminists, a new as-yet-unproduced play by John Lazarus. It will be performed by Master of Fine Arts acting students in the Theatre Department. Lazarus also will answer questions about his work.

McClung Museum Civil War Lecture Series: Soldiers' Stories

Sunday, 2:00 p.m., McClung Museum
This month's lecture, "Soldiers' Stories," will discuss soldiers stationed in Knoxville during the Civil War between 1861 and 1865. The lecture will be given by Joan Markel, Civil War curator, McClung Museum.

The Consciousness of the Dead as a Philosophical Problem in Early China

Monday, 3:30 p.m., Hodges Library Room 605
Paul R. Goldin, Professor of Chinese Thought at the University of Pennsylvania, will discuss how many passages from ancient Chinese literature attest to the widespread belief in ghosts.
