Earned doctorate in Library and Information Science, or related field; a research and teaching record appropriate at the rank of professor; demonstrated leadership skills related to management of academic and/or related programs, including
an understanding of business models, financial management, and distance learning through a variety of formats and platforms; a collaborative management style, with effectiveness in change management; creative, entrepreneurial, and inclusive leadership
abilities; a commitment to academic excellence and student success; an ability to recruit, sustain, and retain faculty and staff; an ability to effectively represent the school within the college and university, to prospective and current

The School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Kent State University has the only American Library Association-accredited Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) degree program in Ohio,
