I'm All Vol: Jim Dittrich

Jim Dittrich, director of the University Center, has been All Vol for the twenty-six years he's worked at UT. He loves working with UT's high caliber students, staff and faculty. When he's not running the UC, he's assisting with the planning of the new Student Union. Hear Jim's All Vol story.


An App for That: UTPD Puts Crime-Fighting Tool into Your Hands

UTPD has launched an app for Androids and iPhones that allows you to send anonymous tips to the police and they will respond back, creating a two-way anonymous "chat." The free app, UTPDTips, complements the existing text tip system, Tip411.

University Housing will host four information sessions today for students interested in applying to be a resident assistant. Sessions will be held at 4:00 p.m. in Massey Hall, 6:00 p.m. in Laurel Hall, and 8:00 p.m. in Humes and Reese halls. 


Join Haslam Scholars at Running With Hope 5K

Join the third annual Redeeming Hope Ministries Running with Hope 5K and One Mile Fun Run at 9:00 a.m. this Saturday at Circle Park. Haslam Scholars will be out in force and encourage others to join them.

'Crossing Borders' Film Viewing

This award-winning documentary follows four American and four Moroccan college students for one week through Morocco as they learn from their experiences. Stay after for a discussion of the controversial issues brought up during the film.  


McClung Public Speaking Contest

Tonight, 8:00 p.m., Cox Auditorium, Alumni Memorial Building
The semi-annual McClung Public Speaking Contest is the largest public speaking competition in the southeast. Listen to speeches from five finalists on topics ranging from communication in South Africa to customer service in Japan and discrimination against women in India.


UT Opera Theatre presents 'The Barber of Seville'

Saturday, 8:00 p.m., Bijou Theatre, $5, tickets required
A comic romp that remains a favorite around the world. While the costumes and sets resemble traditional opera theater, the show will feature many special twists that the UT Opera Theatre does so well.
