The University of Hawaii Library and Information Science Program is pleased
to announce the appointment of *Dr.* *Rae-Anne Montague*. She will join us
in January 2014 as Assistant Professor and coordinator of the School
Library Media Program.

 Dr. Montague is a familiar name to many of you since she is very active in
the field. Recently, she has served as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs
at the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information
Science. Beforehand she was a librarian and teacher at the American School
of Torreón in México.

 Dr. Montague has graduate degrees in Library and Information Science from
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (PhD, 2006, MS, 2000)
and Curriculum and Instruction (MEd, 1994) from St. Mary's University in
Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her research interests emphasize education (e.g.,
inquiry and learning communities) and social justice (e.g., literacy and
youth advocacy).

 She has been instrumental in the development of several LIS education
initiatives including LEEP <http://www.lis.illinois.edu/academics/leep>,
WISE <http://wiseeducation.org/>,
LAMP<http://www.lis.illinois.edu/admissions/lamp>,
and Mix IT Up! <http://mixituplis.wordpress.com/blog/> She has also been
active in LIS professional associations including ALA, ALISE, ASIS&T, IFLA,
and REFORMA.

The University of Hawaii at Manoa Library and Information Science Program
has a strong School Library Media Specialist track, ranked #9 in the most
recent *US News & World Report*.
