Rhodes College Visual Resources Curator Part time position The Visual Resources Curator maintains visual resources collections, including acquisition, classification and maintenance of visual materials and supports studio organization and administration. Maintains custom-built, front-end system for the Art Department's Madison Digital Image Database (MDID). Collects, manages and maintains records of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for relevant materials in all studios each semester. Attends annual EPA training. Manages the digital and physical collections of the Art Department. Works with staff, faculty and students to identify digital resource needs. Assists with training and instruction on creation and use of digital collections. Provides expertise and advice in the development, deployment, evaluation, and preservation of digital collections. Manages project workflows for both studio and visual resource center; including training and supervising work study students and establishing a system for deligating weekly tasks. Engages in liaison activities with college department(s) including collection development responsibilities. Recommends priorities, policies, and procedures for the identification, creation, conversion and preservation of digital content. Integrates new technologies into art department classes. This is a part-time position. Advanced degree in Art, Art History, Library Science, or related discipline required. Experience in visual resources collection, cataloguing, curating, and/or collections management strongly desired; digital photographic skills required; computer skills mandatory; and experience digitizing slides and creating Web pages strongly desired. Ability to work with a wide range of campus departments.
