The Thomas Winston Cole, Sr. Library seeks a creative, enthusiastic, and service-oriented librarian to provide leadership in developing and implementing long-term goals and annual activities; provide leadership in establishing procedures, policies, and systems that make for efficient library operations; plans for the future needs of the library; keeps abreast of professional development in the field of library and informational science and technology; supervises the management of the acquisition module of the integrated library automation system; organizes and conducts special workshops and seminars in order to increase the Library’s resources; participates in implementing and evaluating the total library services and collections; supervises all departments of the library; collects statistics and reports for the purpose of evaluating and planning; provide leadership for the integration of library resources and instruction into academic and special programs; provide faculty with information and input in developing the collection of all fields of inquiry; identified and acquires through purchase or lease the resources (any formal) needed to support the academic programs of the College; coordinates the library’s collection development program by establishing and reviewing collection development policies and procedures; keeps abreast of changes in curriculum, methods of teaching, and administrative reorganizations that could affect the library; and communicates with faculty, students, and other users of the library concerning their information needs.

Qualifications include ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science, five or more years of professional experience, and knowledge of current trends in information literacy and academic librarianship. Must possess supervisory, organizational, planning, management, and budgeting skills, excellent communication skills; the ability to work well with the Board of Trustees, administration, committees, faculty, staff, and students; and have five or more years administrative experience with demonstrated ability in administration in two or more libraries.
