An upcoming event in Toronto on November 11, for those in the area:

Information as Agent: Power in a Post-Hegemonic World
The Coach House Institute (formerly known as the Centre for Culture and Technology under Professor Marshall Herbert McLuhan) is hosting a yearlong, public Culture and Technology Lecture Series in celebration of its 50th anniversary. The next speaker in this year's Lecture Series is Sandra Braman, Professor of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She studies the macro-level effects of the use of new information technologies and their policy implications.

Monday, November 11. 7:00PM - 8:30 pm, with reception to follow.
