Dear Geography undergraduates,

Geospatial Thinking is spatial thinking at the level of Earth, at different scales. Geospatial thinking is using Earth space to structure problems, find answers, and express solutions.

As a geographer, you do this kind of thinking all the time! You've learned to think this way in geography courses, or you were attracted to geography courses because thinking this way comes naturally to you. Or perhaps both!

A PhD student at Texas State University, Ms. Kanika Verma, is carrying out a study of geospatial thinking and she would very much like you to participate. The study is entitled “Geospatial Thinking of Undergraduate Students in Public Universities in the United States." I've discussed the survey with Ms. Verma and I would like to encourage you to participate.

Her study will be the first national survey about spatial geothinking abilities, and it will help to address a shortage of information about this topic in geography education.

The Institutional Review Board at Texas State University has approved the Geospatial Thinking Survey. The survey is anonymous, non-invasive, and voluntary.

To participate in this important study, please complete a 10-minute online survey on geospatial thinking at this link:

Dr. Verma would be exceedingly grateful if you could complete the survey by the end of October.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Sally Horn
