"Van" Mauney (US Navy, retired) will speak on "Nuclear Security: An Operational Perspective." Joining the Y-12 leadership team in 2011 after retiring from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Vice Admiral, Mauney was a career submarine officer, having served at sea on four submarines including command of the nuclear-powered submarine USS L. Mendel Rivers. Other command and staff assignments included operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom; directing naval air, surface ship, and submarine operations in the Atlantic and Indian Ocean areas; and conducting strategic and financial planning for the U.S. Navy.
