Position Title: Assistant Professor

 

Job Description:  This tenure-track position has responsibilities for teaching, advising, maintenance of personal research program, participation in professional activities, and serving on university committees. It is nine month academic year appointment.

 

Teaching and research responsibilities will require expertise in one or more areas of the curriculum, e.g.,: management, knowledge management, information technology, information resources and services, knowledge organization, data curation, digital libraries/archives or health informatics. Candidates should be prepared to teach in the graduate level core, with opportunities to teach undergraduate courses in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) program. Opportunities exist to work with doctoral students in the College, and to help shape the evolution of an exciting new degree program.

 

Qualifications: Requires an earned (or near completion) doctorate in library and information science or a related area by the start date, good academic training, and research in relevant areas of interest to College faculty and students. 

 

The University of Kentucky is the flagship campus in the state, situated in greater Lexington (population 300,000), in the beautiful Bluegrass region of horse farms and rolling hills. Lexington in an increasingly diverse community with a thriving downtown and lively arts and culture scene. Faculty positions are for nine months with possible opportunities for summer teaching. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and level of appointment.
