The University of Southern Mississippi invites application for an
instructor position in the School of Library and Information Science.

Instructor in Library and Information Science (non-tenure-track). Must
be available beginning January 8, 2014. Successful candidates will have
the interest and capability to teach undergraduate courses in library
and information science, both online and face-to-face, and act as a
mentor for undergraduate students in the School. Initial appointment is
for the spring semester of 2014, subject to renewal with consent of both
parties. Typically the instructor position is a nine-month appointment,
subject to renewal for each academic year. Summer work is optional but a
possibility.

Candidates should be enthusiastic about undergraduate teaching. The
instructor will be expected to teach core and specialty undergraduate
library science courses, both online and face-to-face and act as
undergraduate advisor for library and information science majors and
minors. The instructor will be expected to participate in departmental
meetings and committee work as well as have on-campus office hours. The
position will be based in Hattiesburg.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses and advise
undergraduate students. Participate in departmental meetings and
committee work. Engage in research and publication activities as
appropriate. Successful candidates will demonstrate interest in
mentoring, advising and recruiting undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified applicants must possess a Master of
Library and Information Science or above or a master's degree in a
closely related field from an accredited university. If the master's
degree is not a Master of Library and Information Science then the
applicant must have at least 18 hours of graduate-level library and
information science courses. Must have demonstrated proficiency with
technology, to include mastery of online teaching. Must be available
beginning January 8th, 2014.

Preferred Qualifications: Have experience with university/college-level
teaching.

Work Hours: Work hours will vary depending on teaching schedule and
office hours. Onsite as well as online office hours are required.
